Balance is a theme we all have to deal with at some point in our lives and every month, the Universe gives us an opportunity to use the energy of balance to its fullest when the Sun opposes the moon and we experience a full moon. On September 2nd, 2020 at 1:21 am eastern, the Sun in logic and detail oriented Virgo will oppose the Moon in the intuitive and emotional sign of Pisces.

Are you?

The Virgo/Pisces axis, as with all opposite signs, is complementary energy. The hermetic principle of polarity states:

  “Everything is dual; everything has poles; everything

    has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are the same;

    opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree;

    extremes meet; all truths are but half-truths; all paradoxes

    may be reconciled.”

-The Kybalion

Since opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree, the mutable earth and mutable water signs of Virgo and Pisces are more alike than people realize and can essentially meet one another halfway. This meeting in the middle of energies provides an opportunity to achieve balance.

The Sun in Virgo illuminates a collective focus on Virgo themes:

We get to see where a parts of our vitality, self-expression, consciousness, ego, creativity, personal identity, life force, and relationships with father and men are influenced by the changeable yet grounded essence of Virgo.

The Moon represents instinctual emotional responses, emotional security, receptivity, instincts, habits, intuition, and relationships with mother and women. Its transit through the changeable waters of emotional Pisces enhances the energy of the Piscean themes listed above. The parts of our charts and lives where we possess Pisces energy have come to a fullness; a peak has been reached that is ready to be realized and/or released. We get to feel and experience where our instinctual emotional responses, emotional security, receptivity, instincts, habits, intuition, and relationships with mother and women are being influenced by the changeable flow of Neptune-ruled waters.

The balance between the Sun and the Moon allows the respective energies of the Virgo /Pisces axis the chance to work together. How can we be logical as well as emotional? How can we be aware of the details and simultaneously the bigger picture? The key to using the energy of this full moon lunation to our best advantage is to find out how we may achieve balance between the synthesizing essence of Mercury and the dissolving essence of Neptune, lest we live at extremes.

Don’t fall, now.

The Pisces Full Moon is sextile Uranus, currently in the sign of Taurus, giving us unique opportunities to be suddenly inspired by way of our emotions and intuition. The “pushed out of our comfort zones” energy of Uranus in Taurus lends this moon the energy of unexpectedness and abrupt change. What we intuit, dream about, and feel will likely come out of nowhere but shed light on how we can operate practically to improve ourselves and our relationships with others. There’s an electricity in this energy that promises excitement and unpredictability. Expect the unexpected.

Venus, in the cardinal water sign of Cancer, makes a sesquiquadrate aspect to this moon indicating that emotions regarding our relationships and value systems must be allowed to come up and out. Attempting to contain, restrain, or suppress whatever intuition and feelings arise regarding our partnerships with others can lead to unexpected emotional outbursts. To avoid this, it is best to simply flow with the emotional and intuitive currents of ourselves and others. Something is swiftly rising to the surface and it’s here because its time has come to be released. How you handle what comes up is key.

The semisquare of Mars at home in Aries and Saturn at home in Capricorn to the Full Moon in Pisces indicates that our internal blockages regarding how we assert ourselves and take responsibility for ourselves will be apparent externally. As both Mars and Saturn are both in domicile, they are comfortable expressing their energy through our actions and plans. Holding in our compulsion to direct our willpower and to step up to draw appropriate boundaries will work against us. We need to healthily express and direct our inner needs to both get going and simultaneously restrict ourselves. This energy gives the flavorings of settling inner emotional conflict with ourselves and responsibly facing our karma.

This Full Moon wants us to be open to receiving the freedom we seek through emotional awareness. It wants us to be receptive to higher minded understanding that can only come from being in tune with how we feel and the realization that our feelings are connected to the collective. We are a spark of the divine interconnected network of universal oneness. Our experiences, though individualized and separate, are one.

I saw a video today that served to remind me of the power of releasing the notion of disconnectedness from each other. It was also a reminder that the Virgo theme of judgement is still very present in the collective. Judgement encourages separation, as it allows us to point the finger at others in an attempt to disassociate ourselves from what we perceive as unfavorable behavior from them. It allows us to alienate and condemn that which is outside of ourselves. I was so inspired by the video that I used it to make a video of my own displaying how judgement indicates a lack gratitude.

Pisces energy seeks to merge everything into one while Virgo energy seeks to dissect and isolate. As far as the Virgo/Pisces axis is concerned, the themes of judgement and gratitude are very fitting. To slide from the pole of judgement to the pole of gratitude is an example of how we can best use the energy of this Full Moon to bring harmony between ego and empathy. Here’s hoping you can find the appropriate balance that will open you up to the amazing possibilities that await you! Full moon blessings, loves!
