The Season of Fixed Fire

The Sun will enter the sign of Leo, the sign it rules and loves being in the most on Friday, July 22nd, 2022 at 4:07 pm eastern time. As a fixed fire sign, Leo keeps the heat going. Leo Season occurs in the smack dead middle of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, the hottest part of the year. Coincidence? Methinks not.

SpongeBob gets it, even though he’s a Cancer with his birthday on July 14th, 1986.

While people born while the Sun was in Leo will have their birthdays/ Solar Returns and a personal “New Year”, the energy of the Sun in its home sign will impact us all. Leo rules the heart chakra and is associated with unconditional love, children, self-expression, vitality, and endurance. For those with placements in Leo, the Sun will make contact by conjunction with those placements, essentially lighting them up and embuing them with an extra boost of authentic vital energy. If you have Leo placements, pay attention to what degree they are in. The Sun moves about 1 degree per day, so as it traverses through the sign of Leo moving from 0 to 29 degrees, every day it will move to a different degree. So if you have Mars in Leo at 16 degrees, the sun will conjunct it exactly when it hits 16 degrees of Leo, or around the 17th day of Leo Season. It’s a good idea to pay attention to when the Sun is at the same degree as your Leo placement. You’ll notice these placements and what they represent are intensified. I always suggest that my clients journal or record voice memos on days when the Sun is conjunct their placements to keep a record of occurrences. You’d be surprised by the recurring patterns you can see from year to year when you keep track of them.

If you don’t have any planets or placements in Leo, you still will be impacted by the Sun’s visit to its favorite sign. Everyone has the energy of all 12 signs in their charts. So even if you don’t have Leo placements you do have a house or houses in your chart is directly affected by this powerful boost of energy. Look at your birth chart wheel and find what house/houses have Leo energy. This will give you a clue as to what area of your life will be impacted. I’ll dive a little deeper into that later.

Leo Season 2022

As the Sun makes its way into its fiery home sign, it will be joining Mercury, already in the sign of Leo at 6 degrees. Mercury is never too far away from the Sun, as the closest planet orbiting it is used to feeling the heat of the Sun. With these two planets teaming up in Leo collectively communication will be bold, brash, and even a little “extra”. Don’t be surprised if people are “bigging themselves up” more than usual or letting their egos write a check that their asses can’t cash. This is also a time when collectively we can feel more compelled to speak from our hearts and authentically express ourselves. Don’t be afraid to express yourself, but keep in mind that others will feel prompted to do the same. The urge for us all to center everything around ourselves and garner attention is highlighted and if you pay attention to what can be positive and negative about Leo energy you’ll be able to tell when people are speaking from a place of passion in their expression or pride.

The day after the Sun enters Leo, the asteroid Ceres will enter Leo, prompting us to show others we care for them by being encouraging, and recognizing their talents and self-expression. Ceres represents how we nurture ourselves and others and in the sign of Leo nurturing must be authentic and heartfelt. This isn’t the time for giving fake kudos or backhanded compliments, but rather a time to nurture the inner child found within self and those we know and love. Connection with the energy of someone’s inner child means recognizing their innocence as well as their playfulness. Ever see someone’s face light up like the Sun when they are telling you about something they are genuinely proud of? There’s an innocence to that vibe that children embody without even thinking, Learning to connect to that energy can bring us amazing opportunities to make people feel loved and appreciated, and allows us to lift their spirits.

On July 28th, at 1:55 pm eastern, the Moon will join the Sun for a New Moon In Leo. When the Sun and the Moon align, our conscious selves align with our unconscious selves. Ego comes into agreement with emotional responses. If what we are passionate about subconsciously can meet with what we are actively passionate about we get a new opportunity to express it whole-heartedly and fully. On the heavier side of things, if we aren’t careful this can also be a time where we can get smacked in the face with the shadow side of pride, ego, stubbornness, and childishness. What was previously unavailable to our conscious selves rises to the top of our emotional awareness. Be willing to be fiercely accountable!

Hey, isn’t LOUD a Leo keyword? See, no coincidences. The universe has spoken!

MERCURY

For those who have Mercury in Leo, the Sun will be giving a boost to your thought processes and communication style. Mercury in Leo natives want to make sure that people know that they know what they’re talking about. They communicate with authority and warmth and feel most at ease when they are able to be creative and even dramatic with how they speak. They enjoy light and fun communication that allows them to best socialize with others. When Mercury in people make up their mind about something it is hard to convince them otherwise but their commitment to what they feel in their hearts is the truth of matters makes them dynamic and energetic communicators.

  • Mick Jagger: 10 minutes 55 seconds

As I mentioned previously in this post, for those with placements in Leo, the Sun will make contact by conjunction with those placements, essentially lighting them up and embuing them with an extra boost of authentic vital energy. If you have Leo placements, paying attention to what degree those placements are in will let you be able to time when the Sun will make contact with them. The Sun moves about 1 degree per day, so as it traverses through the sign of Leo moving from 0 to 29 degrees, every day it will move to a different degree. This means that for Barack Obama, who has Leo at 2 degrees, the 3rd day of Leo Season is when he can expect the sun to conjunct his natal Mercury, and thus give power to his thoughts and how he communicates with others.

Look at your birth chart and find out what degree your Leo Placements are. Figure out what day the Sun will “shine a spotlight” on that placement by taking the degree and adding 1 to it. This will provide you with how many days into Leo Season you can expect that placement to get some vital energy from the Sun and be intensified. For Sandra Bullock who has Mercury in Leo at 28 degrees, the Sun will conjunct her Mercury on the 29th day of Leo Season. Since every Zodiac Season gets 30 days and Leo Season this year ends on August 22nd, Sandra Bullock can expect the Sun to conjunct her Mercury on August 21st, 2022. Try this on your Leo placements. What day or days will you be affected?

In a future article I will go into detail about how the Sun conjunct different planets and placements can play out.

LEO IN THE HOUSES

via GIPHY

If you don’t have any Leo placements, to get the most out of Leo Season you’ll need to look at your chart and figure out what house(s) you have Leo in. Here’s what to expect from the Leo Sun transiting each house.

1st House

If the Sun in Leo is transiting your first house, you can feel a renewed sense of courage and commitment to being authentically yourself. Your personal energy will be undeniable and you may feel compelled to strongly display your individuality through your appearance. Positively, this will feel like a rebirth and those who you encounter will not be able to ignore the boisterous and warm energy you show up with. Conversely, this transit can give haughty and pushy energy accentuating self-centered and childish behavior.

2nd House

If the Leo Sun is transiting your second house, the focus will be on your value system, self-worth, money, and possessions. The Sun’s energy activates an indulgent state where getting or experiencing the best of the best becomes your focus. A sense of pride about what you already have or can soon have is par for the course. Positively, your sense of security and comfort will be highlighted encouraging you to maintain it, but being too indulgent and spending beyond your means for the sake of looking good can cause you to take a loss.

3rd House

The transiting Leo Sun through your third house gives light to a sense of being a bit of a busybody as you are more open to making connections and sharing and receiving information. You may also have more interaction with your siblings, cousins, or people in your neighborhood. Fun is found by keeping it close to home. Positively, you can find many things to enjoy that stimulate your intellect in a playful way, but be careful not to take on a bossy know-it-all attitude in an attempt to seek attention.

4th House

Sun in Leo transits to your fourth house bring a focus on your family, home, intuition, instinct, and comfort. This transit can lead to a preoccupation with matters of security and taking a leadership role with your family. This energy may also point to ego clashes among you and your family as realizations and understanding of family dynamics rise to the surface. Positively, you may discover ways to deepen trust and strengthen family bonds, while negatively, the issues unearthed may prove to be a boiling point for you or others in your family.

5th House

If the Leo Sun is transiting your fifth house all things self-expression, pleasure, creativity, leisure, and children will be massively lit up. Your inner child will be easier to connect with and you may find yourself embodying the wonder and awe that is a throwback to your childhood. Positively, you’ll be wanting to let your hair down and have a good time with plenty of energy for enjoying what feels good. Conversely, the tendency to make everything about what you want to do can be off-putting to those you are spending time with.

6th House

When the Sun in Leo passes through your sixth house it’s a perfect time for focusing on habits, routines, health, service, and organization of your work environment. You’ll feel more confident in your ability to deal with the small details pertaining to these areas of life. On the positive side, you may be able to establish new habits that carry out for the rest of the year through careful attention to important details On the negative side, you may overextend yourself trying to be of help to others by pouring more energy and focus into them than yourself.

7th House

The Leo Sun transiting your seventh house brings strong focused energy on 1 on 1 connections, relationships, and people who are openly against you. This is a time to think less of yourself and more about your connection to and with another. This isn’t just romantic relationships and under this energy, you may be quite the social butterfly. Opportunities to take pride in the connections you are able to form or strengthen will abound but you must be careful not to use false charm to manipulate inauthentic partnerships.

8th House

Transiting your eighth house, the Sun in Leo energizes transformation, sexuality, shared resources, and highlights things you try to hide, and any unaddressed trauma. Purging is the key word for this transit and there won’t be any benefit to keeping things light or surface-level. Peering into the depths of your own psychological patterns helps you uncover what you need to change. Positively, this purging will free you from internal heaviness. Negatively you may feel so pushed to change that you take things to an extreme.

9th House

When the Leo Sun lights up your ninth house the urge to broaden your horizons through travel, spirituality, and larger-than-life experiences and goals. Oh, the energy you’ll have to feel your purpose and take leaps of faith to align yourself with blessings! This is a great time for foreign or long-distance travel, so a vacation may be due. Conversely, this is also a time where you can either take on too much in the name of adventure or be so focused on a singular truth or goal that you lose track of the smaller things that are equally as important.

10th House

While the Sun is in Leo making its way through your tenth house your public life, career, and reputation are primary focuses and a tendency to care more about how you are known in the world is prevalent. The good news is you’ll likely be recognized and rewarded tangibly for the work you’ve put in. On the other hand, wounded pride due to career status or issues with superiors at work are a negative aspect of this transit so keep your ego in check.

11th House

The Leo Sun transiting your 11th house highlights your social circles, groups, or networks you happen to be a part of. Opportunities to broaden connections through networking pop up everywhere, especially on the internet.  Positively, the connections you make will inspire you in profound ways that awaken your inner genius. Negatively attempts to be the star of the show or central figure in your networks due to an inflated ego can be met with blowback and ultimately have you put out of the circle as quickly as you were welcomed in.

12th House

Leo Sun transits to the twelfth house punctuate the need to retreat, reflect, and recharge. This is also a time when dreams are more significant and getting lost in them as a means of recalibrating your energy is a good idea. A time for introspection and alone time, positively this time can put you in touch with some of the subconscious habits that work against you; giving way to the opportunity to finally become aware of a personal blind spot. Negatively, you may experience becoming aware of people who were not as they appeared to be and didn’t have your best interest at heart, causing a blow to your pride and sense of self.

Leo Season is a perfect time live from your heart, be in the moment to truly enjoy things, and let your inner light shine. One of the things that is associated with Leo energy, particularly Leo risings, is a beautiful full mane of hair! While everyone may not be as naturally blessed with thickness and length, there are so many great products out now to help grow and strengthen hair. In honor of Leo Season and Leo energy, I wanted to share a product I’ve started using that has done wonders for my hair.

Sis is hair goals! I’m on my way though!

Uhuru Naturals Chebe Butter moisturizes to protect your hair from dryness and breakage so you can encourage growth and enjoy strong and healthy hair. This hair butter includes chebe powder which is a combination of herbs that when used as a hair mask, is super moisturizing and hydrating to the hair. Chebe is a traditional Chadian hair treatment used for centuries by the Bassara women in the country of Chad to grow long, healthy hair. I use this as both a leave-in conditioner and a deep conditioner though due to the chebe powder in the butter, it is slightly grainy. After a few weeks of use, I am starting to feel and see results! I’ll have to follow up in the future with you all about my progress.

I hope you have an amazing Leo Season!
